It was day three of the murder trial of former LaFayette police sergeant Sam Parker, accused of killing his wife Theresa about March 21st of 2007--although a body has never been recovered. Prosecutors introduced phone records that showed numerous calls between former Walker county deputy Shane Green and Theresa over a seven day period leading up to her disappearance. Green says he knew her from the Walker County 9-1-1 center where she worked. He said he had discussed her up-coming divorce from Parker, a Sgt. On the LaFayette police force. Green says he left his girlfriend's home in Chattanooga and met her at the I-75 rest area as she left for her three day holiday in Gatlinburg the week before she disappeared. Defense attorney David Dunn asked Green what was discussed. DUNN: "Are you saying that Theresa did not ask you to go to Gatlinburg with her? I don't recall her saying that." The defense focused much of the day on former deputy Green, hinting at a romance between the two, which Green denied. He says Theresa invited everyone in the office to go with her to Gatlinburg. The defense then questioned excess mileage Green put on his unit the night of March 21st, and the fact he had no contact with his headquarters for the last 7 hours of his 12 hour shift. The trial continues tomorrow. www.wdef.com/news/defense_focuses_on_former_deputy_in_sam_parker_murder_trial/08/2009
