Theresa Parker's Body Found Comments 2 September 22, 2010 3:39 PM
A source tells Newschannel 9 that human remains were found in Chattooga County Monday evening. There will be a news conference at 5:30 to confirm that the remains are believed to be those of Theresa Parker.
Newschannel 9's coverage of this development -- including the news conference -- will be stramed live here on newschannel9.com beginning at 5:00.
Parker's older sister Hilda Wilson says police contacted the family this week to say that the remains had been located. The bones were found near the Chattooga river off Fullerton Road in Lyerly -- southwest of Summerville in rural Chattooga County.
Wilson told reporter John Madewell, "We have had better days, but we are hanging in there...We've had so many emotions. We've prayed and prayed."
Theresa Parker was a Walker County Sheriff's dispatcher when she disappeared in March of 2007. Her husband, Lafayette, Ga police officer Sam Parker, immediately came under suspicion. The couple were in the process of divorcing, and had a history of explosive confrontations.
In September 2009, a jury found Sam Parker guilty of malice murder after a three week trial, even though his wife's body had never been found. Judge Jon "Bo" Wood sentenced him to serve the rest of his life in prison.
Parker steadfastly insisted that he was innocent, and that his wife had run away to begin a new life.
All along, investigators theorized Sam Parker used her 1999 Toyota Forerunner to dispose of her body.
We will have more on Newschannel 9.com as it becomes available.

A bittersweet closure to a family, my heart skipped reading this and I do hope that this will bring closure to her family and friends, if in fact the remains are that of Theresa.

www.timesfreepress.com/news/2010/sep/22/walker-county-sheriff-announcing-new-information-t/?breakingnewsAnother article saying the body was identified as Theresa. Definitely bittersweet Aleamon. Every time I hear about a body being found, I wonder & think about Theresa but when I heard about this one, I just somehow knew it or at least felt it strongly. May she now rest in peace & her family find some comfort in knowing she has been found. It has been awhile since I have been to the board & posted before this finding on Monday but Theresa has never been far from my mind!

She has never been far from any of our minds. I am just glad now that it will hopefully bring some closure for Theresa's family, although I am sure that the pain will still be there of losing such a great woman.
