NewsChannel 9 has confirmed through law enforcement sources that Sam Parker, 52, has been arrested for the murder of his estranged wife, Theresa Parker.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Parker at his home at about 10 o'clock this morning without incident.
The GBI informs us he has been moved to a jail outside of the Walker County area. This case has received tremendous publicity. Sam Parker was a 26-year law enforcement veteran, including rising to the rank of Sergeant at the LaFayette police department, before he was fired after his estranged wife disappearance.
Theresa Parker has been missing since March 21, 2007. The GBI says today her body has still not been found.
Walker County Georgia Sheriff Steve Wilson will hold a news conference at 4:00 PM today. Of course, NewsChannel 9 will have much more on this story as details develop.

When I heard this news. I about fell out of my chair. I've never been so excited that he is finally going to be brought to justice.
I just hope and pray that they have enough evidence to make the charges stick. I am also praying that the family of Theresa Parker is able to get some closure.
I've followed this case from the beginning. I just found this forum last week and I had no clue they were even close.
I was just hoping that the investigation was still on going and I'm glad that the investigators never gave up.
I don't know if I'm supposed to post here or not but just had to get in my 2cents worth.
Just know that there are so many people that are behind the family of Theresa Parker and that all of us that have found out the good news are overjoyed by this.
God bless
Carlie

I too worry if there is enough evidence. I find it funny that Steve Wilson said "the timing is just right" and elections are taking place. I hope his desire to be re-elected isn't why the "timing is right" b/c it would be horrible if Sam really did do this like we all think & they dont' have a strong enough case & he is found not guilty & then it comes out later that he did do it.

I too hope they have enough evidence to make this stick; I certainly don't want to see him acquitted and never have the chance to go after him if Theresa were found or more evidence came to light. I feel confident though that they feel this is the best time, not based on elections or anything like that, simply b/c I feel it is the GBI and the FBI who are calling the shots on that one.....not Wilson. Good point gagal When I first read the guest posts, I thought NO WAY they could be onto something but then I thought that the GBI and FBI are in on this and they would need to make the call on this one. I also feel that they have enough evidence to make it stick. The GBI and FBI isn't going to file charges that they don't feel will stick. Wasn't some of Sam's statements prior to Theresa missing to someone was "I could hide a body and it never be found" (something to that effect) That there is just circumstancial evidence but the fact that Theresa is missing makes it a very compelling statement IMO I too hope they have enough evidence to make this stick; I certainly don't want to see him acquitted and never have the chance to go after him if Theresa were found or more evidence came to light. I feel confident though that they feel this is the best time, not based on elections or anything like that, simply b/c I feel it is the GBI and the FBI who are calling the shots on that one.....not Wilson. Carlie - I feel like there is a lot of circumstantial evidence in this case too. I think back to the Scott Peterson case and the only difference there was they had the body. He was still convicted on only circumstantial evidence - there was no murder weapon, no eye witnesses, no cause of death determined, etc. I hope the same outcome will be here. Even if they had the body, we might still only have circumstantial evidence and I don't think it will be hard for any jury to believe that she is not with us anymore, with or without a body. P.S. Of course you're "supposed" to post here. We welcome anybody interested in the case to post and are happy so many people care about Theresa and her family.

Thanks gagal You are the first person to respond to me since I posted here. I was beginning to wonder if I was invisible.. ;D I know all about the Scott Peterson case too well. That happened in my home town and the media coverage was really bizarre. Then for people to know about it nationwide let along worldwide. That blew my mind. After that case came about in my back yard. I got interested in following other cases and I have a MB where others discuss them and we get the word out, well we try. I actually found out about Theresa's disappearance right after it happened. I think it was about 2 or 3 days after, it was on Foxnews.com. Once it makes it there and it is a missing persons case I usually follow them as close as I can. There for a long time nothing was mentioned. I kept searching and found this MB a little over a week ago. I had posted as a guest carlie69 and even registered as carlie69 but gave the wrong email and so now I'm just carlie.. LOL Theresa Parker hit home with me because her and I are the same age. I think I'm less then a year older then her. 9 1/2 months to be exact. Plus having an ex as a police officer made this more suspicious IMO. When I found out that Sam had finally been arrested, I was never so happy. I can't imagine what Theresa's friends and family felt like. I wanted to cry with the joy of knowing they have gotten a bad cop off the street. (although he was already fired). It just goes to show me that not all LE are bad. It is people like Sam Parker that gives any LE office a black eye. I can't express the relief I've felt but can only imagine that the Family and Friends of Theresa felt it 100 fold. I never knew her but places like this help give victims faces and personalities that need to be known. So that the perpetrator doesn't get off so easily when it is brought before a judge and jury. Sam needs to pay for his actions and I did watch the interviews and he is less then a lame excuse of a man. MOO God Bless you and the Family and Friends of Theresa May God give you all peace and closure through this tough time and the times ahead. You're definitely not invisible here, I'm glad you found the site and care about Theresa's case, as well as all the others. This case touched me so much for a lot of the same reasons the Lacy Peterson case affected you - it happened right in my backdoor and although I didn't know Theresa I knew some people who knew Sam very well and actually even let him stay with them when this all happened. Of course, they believed he was innocent (it's hard to believe your close friend whom you've known since grade school could be capable of such a thing). I found the blog on our local newspaper site and started talking to a lot of different people who were just as upset by the situation as me. Then, we made this site to keep all of the news reports and people's posts a little more organized and easier to navigate and I've been following the case ever since (I no longer help moderate this site although I still visit it regularly and post). By the way, www1.romenews-tribune.com/soundoff/blog/649 is the link for the soundoff blog if you wanted to get a perspective about what a lot of the people from around here are saying and feeling, although it might be a little hard to understand if you haven't followed it from the beginning; you can go back and read the beginning but it would be A LOT of reading). I feel like these sites help give a face to the victims and help people to see that this sort of thing does go on and these are real people who have families who miss them and are in pain; they're not just a name on TV. Although I didn't know Theresa, in a lot of ways I feel like I do now. I think about this case every single day and I'm so thankful there has finally been an arrest. Now, I'm just waiting on the conviction and for Theresa to be brought back to her family so they can start the healing process. Anyway, I'm just rambling but thanks for caring and sharing your thoughts with us.
